  • A high percentage of the population has immense needs; nearly 90%, or about 90 million people, lack access to electricity, drinking water, and medical care.
  • Need for training of ophthalmologists with a community focus.

Currently

The Fundación Visión has donated a microscope to train doctors and perform surgeries on blind people. Previously, surgical ophthalmologists performed surgeries using magnifying glasses, which greatly hinders the provision of quality service and also represents more risks.

Surgeries for blind people, using a microscope, are already being performed in the city of Vanga, and in other areas of the D.R. Congo, in collaboration with the Christian Blind Mission CBM, in order to improve surgical quality and increase coverage of this type of service in the country. This marks the beginning of the activities of the Fundación Visión in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Fundación Visión plans in the Democratic Republic of Congo

We aim to meet, to the best of our ability, the need for ophthalmological care that exists, especially in the interior of the country, through training for doctors and through surgeries for people blinded by cataracts.

We also plan to have mobile clinics that will allow us to reach more people and a clinic in our own premises.
